Today was the first day that Sean walked more than he crawled. He walked around holding different toys and followed me from room to room. I guess the toy in hand helps since he doesn't want to put it down to crawl. He's still working on his balance though, and sometimes falls backward onto his bottom. But we get back up again...
Sean and I went with my friend Greer to check out the C.S.I exhibit today. Here we are admiring the garden while we are waiting outside.
Yay! Greer's phone!
After lunch, we went to The Cookie Jar for a sweet treat. (This is why I am not a good example of how breastfeeding helps moms lose the pregnancy weight faster.) While I indulged my sweet tooth, Sean enjoyed the play area.
Bananas are Sean's favorite food. I'm told that they were my favorite when I was a toddler. He especially loves them mashed with yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Yesterday I took Sean to see his pediatrician. He's been waking up 2-3 times a night for about a week now and it's been very difficult to get him back to sleep. We'd assumed it was just teething. Some parent resources also state that when babies are mastering developmental milestones, such as walking or talking, they will awaken more during the night. However, the daughter of another mom I know had the same symptoms and it turned out she had a double ear infection! So I was a little worried, but his ears and throat are healthy. We are just giving a little pain medication to help with the teething so Sean can sleep at night.
I don't think that we need to buy Sean any more toys because he only wants our cell phones and car keys. Or does this mean he's entering puberty already?
Here are Grandma and Sean in the toy aisle. Grandma and Grandpa came down for a quick visit since I had a meeting to attend for work. And Sean has been saying some new words!
Yesterday, while I was at work and Matthew and Sean were reading his book on colors, Sean said, "Brown." Matthew was floored! Then this morning, Sean said, "Grandpa," and "Grandma." He hasn't repeated himself yet and I'm just sorry that I missed all the excitement.
This also means Sean had his first evening sans Mommy & Daddy. We were a bit nervous about it, but Sean had fun with The Babysitter and even fell asleep (whew!), and we got to enjoy a wonderful meal with wine, champagne, and adults.
Sean enjoyed a little snack in the car before we headed back home. We are going to attend an engagement party on saturday night and I wanted Sean to meet The Babysitter beforehand so he wouldn't get stranger/separation anxiety. I love his hair in these photos - just got it from napping in the car.
