Checkups for All!
Today both Sean and Jack had their checkups. Jack is 30 inches tall (75th percentile), weighs 25 pounds (60th percentile), and his head circumference is 18.5 inches (75th percentile). Sean is 37.5 inches tall (50th percentile) and weighs 34 pounds (75th percentile). Our pediatrician asked Sean questions to check his development.
"Sean, can you stand on one foot like this?"
"No, I can stand on two feet like this!"
Cuz two feet are better than one, of course.

Jack's Cruisin'
Jack really enjoys cruising all over. He went around the little fish fountain twice.
Jack was cruising so fast, Sean could barely keep up.

Distracted by the Presents
Was trying to get a good pic of Sean and Justin, but Sean wouldn't take his eyes off the presents they got.

Pachyderms!
Sean is watching the "big brother" elephant.
Here are the daddy, momma, and baby brother elephants. We also saw the giraffes, an okapi, and the monkeys. Then we were hungry and tired (Sean voluntarily wanted to sit in the stroller, so you know he was tired). It was terribly hot, so next time we'll go in the fall.

First Stop: The Reptile House
I carried Jack the whole time, so this is the only other picture I have of him.
Sean checking out a frog.Sean standing next to a humongous python. It's circumference was larger than Sean's torso!
Gigi and Sean checking out a spiny turtle.
Hello, komodo dragon!

Just Wanted to Pause for a Moment
After all the excitement of the boys' birthday party this weekend, I wanted to stop and just savor them as they are today. Seems like with all the hustle-and-bustle of our everyday lives, I sometimes wish that Jack would start walking or Sean would be a little more independent. But tonight after Jack fell asleep in my arms, I studied him for a long time. I tried to etch every detail of his sleeping face into my memory. His chubby cheeks. The little roll of fat around his wrists. Each dimpled knuckle. I love his little thunder thighs! Soon he will be a toddler and I'll be running around after him, but right now he's my baby and loves me more than anything else in this world. Even Sean thinks we are the coolest people on the planet. And I know that won't last forever!
So I just wanted to stop the march of time for a few minutes and hold my babies. Just as they are, right now.

Happy Birthday to Sean & Jack!
Sean's cake. He specifically requested chocolate (of course).
Jack's had a sandcastle cake (cream cheese pound cake). Had to keep him from grabbing the candle itself. Boys! Here he is clapping to his birthday song.
