Sunday afternoon Sean had a low-grade fever, and it was on and off for a couple of days. I was hoping that it was only teething. Yesterday morning, he woke up with a normal temperature, so I took him to his new school to hang out for a few hours. After a couple of hours, the school called because Sean had a fever of 101.5 and had broken out in a rash. I picked him up and immediately went to the pediatrician's office. The fever and rash were due to a viral illness, but Sean also has a double ear infection. We'd been giving Sean some antihistamines for his nasal congestion, but I suppose that eventually all that congestion turns into ear infections. Thankfully, the pediatrician gave Sean a shot of antibiotic to get a jump-start on his recovery. Of course, we have some oral antibiotics too. Yesterday, he was pretty cranky, but today he's feeling better.

Grocery Shopping
Sean gets pretty squirmy in the grocery cart. Today he only lasted about 10 minutes before he started crying that he wanted out. So I picked him and we finished the rest of our shopping while I held him on my hip. Sean's torso faced forward as his hands were on the handle, and he "pushed" the cart. Of course my other free hand was steering/pushing too. Sean had a huge smile on his face as we walked through the store, and he waved at the store employees and other shoppers. Just one of those moments that tickles me to think about it.

The Last of the Long Hairs

Tomorrow I'll be taking Sean to get his first haircut. (Sigh.) I don't know why I have been dragging my feet about this, but I think it's time. Sean's hair tickles his ears and he pulls on them, then his teachers think that he has an ear infection. He doesn't; his hair is just too long.Funny story: I've been looking for a place to cut Sean's hair (scissors + squirmy baby = Mommy heart attack), and I drove past a very colorful place that specializes in kids haircuts (Snip-Its). So I called them up to ask how old children have to be for a haircut. The lady said, "Whenever you're ready."

Waiting for Good Dinner

Grandma and Grandpa visited for Matthew's birthday and took us out for a delicious dinner. Sean's first course consisted of strawberries, blueberries, calamari, and shrimp. Although it was tasty, Sean didn't like the cocktail sauce and made a face with that cringe-wiggle he does. As always, while we were waiting for the main course to arrive, Sean and I checked out the scenery outside.
