Baby Sean's First Week at Home

We survived the first week at home with Baby Sean. It was (and still is) really tough getting used to the sleep deprivation. Sean gets up every 1-2 hours at night to nurse or because he needs a diaper change. Before you have a baby, you hear people talk about sleepless nights, but it's nothing like experiencing it for yourself. Of course, we've taken almost a hundred pictures of him during this week. Typical new parents behavior, right? I know you're thinking that Sean is really advanced for a week-old-baby if he's already smiling, but actually that pic was taken after he had nursed and was sleeping already. I just love that smile! Baby Sean is here!!!

Well, it all started with a sneeze at 1:30am on 5/23... and my water broke! So we made our way to the hospital and later that day at 8:21pm, Sean Alexander Birdwell arrived. Thanks to April and Sarah for giving the gift of chocolate. It really helped to maintain my serotonin levels and bring in my milk... ;) He is just the cutest baby, but of course, I'm biased, so check him out for yourself... For more pics, click on

37 Weeks

Well, we were a little surprised at last week's ob/gyn visit. I didn't expect to be 1-2 cm and 70-80% effacement. So we got crackin' to get ready in case Sean was going to arrive this week. Got the carseat checked and properly re-installed. Got a bedding set for the crib. Took a breastfeeding class last saturday. (It was very informative and I highly recommend it to any gal considering breastfeeding.) Today's ob/gyn visit was a bit of a let-down. No change in dilation or effacement. But I haven't had any contractions yet either. (As far as I know...)

This pic is from last week's lunch with some of my 3rd year friends and one of our faculty members who is also preggers.

Graduation 2007

Finally! Graduation was a hot and humid saturday morning, especially with those heavy gowns and hoods. But who cares - I'm finally a Pharm.D. Yay! Here are some pics of me with my brothers Jeff and Michael as well as Matthew and me. For more pics, see

The most surprising thing about pregnancy...

Before I was pregnant, I really hadn't thought much about what it would be like day-to-day. I only thought that my back would hurt from the extra weight, I'd eat alot, and my belly would get bigger. The most surprising and fun part is feeling and watching Baby Sean kick. I took a movie on tuesday night to try to capture it for posterity.

3rd Ultrasound

We had our 3rd ultrasound on 5/2. Baby is healthy and still a boy! (We won't have to wash all our blue stuff with red dye to make everything purple. Whew!) He's pretty squished in there and apparently he has hair too...

There weren't any good 3-D pics because of the position of the baby. But here's a 2-D movie of Sean moving his mouth like he's eating.

BTW: I updated the 3-D ultrasounds from before so if you didn't get to see them, check them out! (Click on "February" to the right...)

Getting ready for baby...

Well, we've finally got all the baby furniture ready. The hardest part was getting it all up to the third floor. (Thanks for your help, Ryan!!!) Here's a pic of Matthew getting the changing table/dresser together. What a handyman!

Family & Aggie Baby Shower

Well, we're finally posting a couple of pics from our Family/Aggie baby shower from 4/15. Thanks to everyone for all the gifts, especially the majority which were from a very excited grandmother. (Thanks, Mamere!) Matthew took the black & white photo at the top - doin' the artsy thing.
