A Belated Father's Day

With all the excitement last weekend, Matthew didn't really get a Father's Day. So we finally got a Sunday together. We had our pancakes and Sean wore the t-shirt I bought for him to wear on Father's Day. Here's Sean saying "cheese." Getting so big so fast!

Baby Jack - The First Week

I Can See Why People Stop After Two...

Kids, that is. That's been my constant thought today. After our first twenty-four hours at home, we've been learning how to juggle the needs of both Sean and Jack together. Thank goodness for grandparents! And a lot of coordination too. Our first night was pretty tough since Jack got so hungry even after I'd fed him. So for sanity's sake, we decided to supplement with formula until my milk comes in.

Otherwise, we are doing a lot better than expected. Just trying to take it one day at a time.

How Debonair!

Tio Michael and Tia Peaches gave us a big basket of goodies for Jack and Sean. Sean tried on his new bathrobe and struck a jaunty pose. What a ham! Maybe I should photoshop a little pipe in his right hand...

Hello, Jack Donovan!

So starting in the wee hours of thursday morning, Sean had some sort of a stomach bug. After I got off work friday afternoon, I started having symptoms as well and by midnight, I was dehydrated enough to really increase the intensity and frequency of my contractions. (Later, my ob/gyn said that those same symptoms can be signs of labor, so perhaps I was just laboring? I would have rather been induced instead...) So we made our way to the hospital at 4 am, and it turned out that I was 4cm dilated and 80% effaced. Got my epidural started and at 1pm I started pushing. At 2:07pm, he finally popped out, weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces! Already round in the cheeks and belly.

Just got home today and here are some photos of Jack that were taken while we were in the hospital.

An Impromptu Baby Shower

Thanks to my friends who got together for dinner and to give me some gifts for Jack. It was a little difficult to get everybody together on such short notice and before I get induced on saturday. Plus, my friend Theresa is due in a couple of weeks herself. Our firstborns are 10 days apart and our secondborns maybe as well.

Visit From Lolo & Tito Jeff & Betty

Had a nice visit this weekend. Jeff and Betty are making their tour of Texas, so we took them to Kemah Boardwalk. At least it's not too hot yet.
